Nationals is upon us and everyone is trying to think of what to play, what will go good on the map, what won't, and so on and so forth.
I have thought about it a lot, and as good as the following team's are that we shall discuss, I still have a gut feeling that something unseen is going to break the meta. What? I don't know. It could be something no one expects, it could be something overlooked... but it's just a hunch I guess.
So looking over the top teams this week, I thought I'd take a twist and just look at the pros and cons of each team that could be played that has hit it big. So, let's get this party started:
Jaina Zoo
Lady Jaina Proudmoore
Vindicator Kaustron
Vindicator Kaustron
Pros: This is a good choice for this map, as the center choke point could essentially have you firing arrows and frostbolt volleys all day long. Double pets, especially with Fury, will be launching themselves at the enemy, and with Fury packing the +1 move, terrain shouldn't be an issue.
Cons: No tank to choke the center on your side. Very vulnerable to Mortimer dotting them up and "Disc-ing" away. Kaustron's low resist (and armor for that fact) will have ranged peeps popping away at him unless you bring Old Bones.
Wildcard: Taking Zoo to a more defensive stance, and perhaps switching out the hunters for two Elana's could potentially be a good move here... potentially.
Savin Wall
Savin Lightguard
Graccus
Prophet Velen
Pros: This team is a meat wall. It's ability to take the center of this map and never look back will be huge. As defensive of a tea as this is, and if you've never played it, just try it, they are tough to kill, they pack a hell of an offensive firepower punch as well. Call of Fire and Hand of Ragnaros just brutalize people.
Cons: If someone packs fear or dots (Pozsgay almost beat this team with Morts) it could be rough. Basically, anything moving you away from each other, or moving you away from the center point may be tough. I've read Iceblock will mess with this team, but Murlocs are fragile sooner or later and that one trick pony may not be enough.
Wildcard: Wrath of the Prophet wasn't in anyone's side or main for Boston that I saw, but it could, with everyone crowding the center point, be a killer in this match up and map.
3MO
Mortimer the Malign
Mortimer the Malign
Mortimer the Malign
Pros: What's not to love about a team who doesn't care about the map it plays on? These guys are the "Mike Tyson" of WoW Minis, they Punch and Get Out! Disc placement will be key, but will offer dot range, VPs and bounce for the victory if played right
Cons: LOS. Blocking the center point will wreak havoc on those much needed DOT placements.
Wildcard: What if you just tossed one Mo out and tossed in a Kiala? Built in fear... spread out the VP and get those DOTS in? Not bad....
Seaturtles
Lady Vashj
Blindlight Murloc
Bloodscale Wavecaller
Pros: This may not be the match up everyone brings, but Vashj, X, X, is a formidable team. The hills on each side away from the action have been dubbed the "Vashj Hills" in my BG since it's begging for her to be there pew pewing away. Also, a Murloc in Ice Block on the center VP won't hurt the cause any at all.
Cons: It's mortal, and it's been proven. One counterspell or purge will remove the Ice Block and put everything at risk for strategy. Firing a lot of dice only gets you so far.
Wildcard: Static Charge has seen little to no play, but again, with the teams that could crowd the center point, this could at the least change their strategy, while at the best, push through that much needed damage.
There are a ton more teams I could review. I'm sure HHT will be seen. Kialas may make a comeback, and Kael'Thas seems to be being played much more these days. Whatever the outcome, I'm sure Nationals will be a blast!
For those who don't know, I'm going and judging minis. If you see me, please come say hi and introduce yourself, i would love to meet everyone in person! Whatever you do next week, enjoy it!
