Sweet Baby Jesus! I must apologize to all our readers for the gigantic lapse in updates and articles. We were doing so well too and had a solid, consistent run happening. As it happens, being the only person running a blog, sometimes real life creeps in on you. Someone once said, "Life is what happens when you are making other plans." How true, how true.
All that behind us, we are back, and there are crits to be happenin'.
This week, I want to talk about a team that made top 8 left and right in Italy. Triple Locks. No, Not Kiala and the Dots. No, not Rhyno and 1 cost Jhuroons. No not Bleakhearts with Santurias. Nope... this time, some promo got in the way of people's plans in Italy... Chao Mortimer...

First, until wowminisdb.net came along, I never noticed how grotesque the picture is for Corruption. I digress...
When I first saw Mortimer's figure I love him. Then I saw the card with the ability to punch and get out. The porting thing made such great sense for a lock to DOT and run away. However, 2 things never occurred to me:
1.) Any Mortimer can use any other Mortimer's Demonic Circles.
2.) He's Demonology.
Insanity. And this is a promo piece. I've been trying to think back to any game I've played, where a promo piece was this powerful. I can't think of anything in Magic, mostly because most of the promos where just foils of the real cards, back in the day when foils weren't in every set. Can't think of anything in the WOW TCG that was a promo this big, because again, they all were Extended Arts of the main cards...
Mortimer is a massively diverse character after further inspection. He made top 8 with 4 parties. All trip Mort. This definitely says something.
The big question is, they petered out against Harukas and Hunters with range... so is Trip Mort the right meta, or is double Mort and X something better? And if so, what's X?
Interesting enough, I don't see a single Lady Vashj in the top 8 of Italy... As much as people want to say Vashj is insanely OP, and she is, I still don't think she will dominate the Meta as much as people think, and Italy was the first insight into that.
If you haven't gotten a Mortimer yet, I'm sure these guys will start catching a pretty penny on eBay soon, so grab them while you can! And let us know if you find an "X" for a third that may be better...
